Wife convicted after husband fatally shoots lover... →
I posted on this case a while back, but now the verdict’s in. Let’s pull out our Texas Penal Codes. Ladies, if you live in Texas, and know your man packs heat, and then your man finds you with your lover doing the beast with two backs, don’t cry rape.

Want to Remember Everything You'll Ever Learn?... →
“Every time I learn the name of a student, I forget the name of a fish.” - Ichthyologist David Starr Jordan I’ve been fretting about memory. A lot. I’ve spent the last (and only) 30 years of my life in school. I’ve taken American History in junior high. I’ve taken calculus in high school. I’ve majored in Biology. I’ve majored in Philosophy. Brian Leiter's Law School Reports: An Open Letter... →
I think Leiter’s critiques are so on point that U.S. News will feel too backed-in-a-corner (and self-justified) to actually address them so long as any such changes would appear to be a response to Leiter et al. Dealing with U.S. news seems to me like dealing with the proverbial hard-headed dad: you have to make them feel like any changes were their own decision.

So the numbers have leaked, and UT went back up a few notches. Good for UT. Good for Dean Sager. Brian Leiter has asked bloggers not to post the the overall rankings, but instead focus on the more meaningful bits of underlying data. I’ll leave that to Leiter. As much as I take issue with U.S. News rankings, there’s no denying that they still have weight - even if only to incoming...

Yesterday I was lamenting to a good friend of mine about how depressing it is to look back and realize how much I have forgotten about everything I have learned. Ask me today, though, and I’ll be hard...

Horrifyingly, next week is already the time to make choices for next semester’s classes. I came across this interesting advice for course selection at a blog I frequent, Study Hacks. I Gave Obama The Girl-Shake
I saw Obama this morning. He was great; the crowd was great. I shook his hand twice. One time was immortalized on camera. It was pretty much the girly-est handshake two straight men could put together. To be fair, Obama is a lefty, and I went for him with my right hand. Also, I’m a little gay for Obama. At least I have the bigger hands.
But how often does a political issue come up for which experience helps? If it...
